Platinum Jubilee Carnival and Picnic

In conjunction with eight other local community groups, Tropical Isles will be leading a marvellous Carnival around de Beauvoir on Friday, June 3rd,marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It will start and end outside Rose Lipman Centre, where everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join in the party atmosphere. The Carnival is also scheduled to go around De Beauvoir Square, so there is plenty of room for more picnics.

Tropical Isles and a team of community groups have been successful in getting funding from the Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund and will be giving a series of free workshops and masterclasses where anyone can have a go at developing their creative skills, whether or not they wish to take part in the actual Carnival Parade. The aim is to empower our community to work collaboratively with artists and cultural organisations in a way they might not have before and to create an environment that brings diverse people together to experience the excitement and vibrancy of Carnival.

Everyone is welcome to come and create costumes for themselves or others and make bunting or other street decorations over the next few weeks. There will be music, dance, and drama to go. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult; there is no upper age limit!

Come and join Tropical Isles on the top floor of Rose Lipman for Free Workshops
